Economic Relations Between Turkey and Serbia
Serbia is in a very important position for Turkey in terms of transporting export products to the EU. For this reason, significant improvements have been made recently regarding the transit passage quotas applied to trucks with Turkish license plates, which sometimes cause problems. The two countries aim to increase the annual trade volume, which exceeds 2.5 billion dollars, to 5 billion dollars in the medium term. Direct investments with Turkish capital in Serbia have increased rapidly in the last 10 years and reached 400 million dollars. In accordance with the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between the two countries, no customs duty has been applied to the mutual imports of industrial products since 2015. The revised FTA, which entered into force on June 1, 2019, also included service trade.
